COVID in 2021: How to Go Back to Work Safely

There’s a lot of fear uneasiness out there right now. COVID-19 has come back with a new variant affecting a lot of people around the country. However, most employers have reopened and are planning on keeping their doors openWhat we know is this: the majority of employers are planning a return to work at some point. This leaves many candidates wondering, “How can I get back to work and stay safe with the re-emergence of COVID?” We have some practical guidelines to help you stay safe while getting back on the job.

How Lingo Staffing Can Help

We have to say it: “It’s okay to go back to work, as long as you protect yourself.” Many employers have different policies about vaccines and mask-wearing. The good news is that Lingo Staffing is in communication with these employers, and can talk to you about what precautions and protocols they have in place to protect you when you are going back to work at the office. As employer policies and precautions change, Lingo will keep you up to date. There are different opinions out there on what kinds of policies employers should and should not have. We can help you understand both the job opportunity and the health and safety rules of the jobs you are considering.
If you’ve been infected with COVID-19, or if you’ve been vaccinated, there may be some level of immunity to the virus. But keep in mind we’re still learning about this virus, so how long that immunity lasts or how great it is still kind of up in the air. However, Forbes points out, “there is still no treatment or cure for COVID-19, and the death rate for those infected remains far too high.”

Stay Safe with CDC Recommendations

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has issued guidelines for employees considering a return to the workplace. They recommend:

  • If you are fully vaccinated, you can go back to many of your normal activities, including going to work.
  • Stay socially distanced and if you are in an area where there is a risk of high transmission, wear a mask.
  • If you have a weakened immune system or if you are older with an underlying medical condition, wear a mask. Not only can you get the virus potentially, but you can spread it to others.
  • Some companies require masks, as do some businesses. Please follow the rules in your area and at your company.

The CDC also points out that the more closely you interact with other people, the higher the risk of spreading illness. As in the past, make sure you wash your hands frequently and carry with you a face mask and hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Many companies not only have socially distanced work areas, often separated by plexiglass, but they clean and disinfect common areas frequently. They also have sanitation stations and other requirements to help keep you safe.
